Event Details

Canada's Technology Triangle .NET User Group is hosting a Windows 8 Camp at Wilfrid Laurier's Schelegel Centre, in classroom SBE1210! This is a full day event with technical sessions, delivered by Andrei Marukovich and Atley Hunter, that dive into the platform for building Windows 8 Metro Style apps. You will learn hands-on how to use the new features in Windows 8 Metro style apps to your advantage. Also, you will learn how the developer platform supports C#, C++, XAML, HTML and JavaScript and how to monetize and distribute your app.

 

Prerequisite

In order to participate in the workshop, you will need to bring your own laptop with the following already installed:

NOTE: In preparation for the event, it would be worthwhile checking out the Windows Developer Centre and reviewing the Key Design/UX principles for Windows 8.

Also note that the venue does not permit outside food and beverages on-site. A light breakfast and catered lunch will be provided.

 

Speaker Bio

Andrei Marukovich

Andrei is an Agile Coach and Technology Coordinator at AB SCIEX, a global leader in life science analytical technologies, and has been developing software professionally for over 15 years. During this time, he has designed and developed applications in such widely varying areas as semiconductor device manufacturing, game development, Web and hosting solutions.

In his current position, Andrei is mainly focused on the .NET/WPF platform as a software team leader, but also coordinates company knowledge sharing processes and facilitates new technologies research and adoption. Atley Hunter

Atley Hunter is a passionate mobile developer with over 15 years’ experience.   As one of the most prolific developers for the Windows Phone platform, he has more than 100 apps developed.  He has also created the Lazy Library which promotes even faster app development on the already short development time of .NET.

Parking

There is no charge for parking on the weekends. Guests can park in any lot except the pay and display, metered parking or reserved spaces. Accessible parking is available in lot 42. Parking on city streets is strictly limited to three hours.
